Our Services

XIII Conservators delivers specialized craftsmanship across all facets of historic preservation, from detailed decorative plasterwork to weathered brick facades. Since every structure and project is unique, we develop customized methods tailored to the specific history and materials of each building. Our work consistently adheres to the stringent preservation standards defined by the National Park Service and the Code of Ethics of the American Institute for Conservation.

Our team provides specialized expertise in preservation masonry, stone and brick repair, monument and cemetery conservation, terra-cotta restoration, and tabby conservation. Additionally, our capabilities include architectural metals restoration, historic finishes, and facade testing and cleaning. As part of our specialized approach, we offer custom molds and casting for architectural elements.

Widely recognized as an expert in identifying original historic mortar colors, Owner-Conservator John Ecker developed a meticulous system for testing and color matching to guarantee that every repair remains faithful to the building's original structure. He brings this same level of precise attention to facade cleaning and testing, carefully analyzing each surface to establish the safest, most effective methods for its unique condition and materials. Rather than utilizing generic solutions, John tailors his craftsmanship to the distinct demands of each project, ensuring the techniques employed respect the unique history, materials, and character of the individual structure.
